A legacy, re-read.
Two hundred years is a long time to say one thing. RPI didn’t lack history. It had more than most. What it needed was clarity, on what that history meant now, and what it made possible next.
The institution was preparing for two moments at once:
A bicentennial. And a new campaign to carry it into its third century. The risk wasn’t irrelevance. It was fragmentation.Too many stories. Too many interpretations of what RPI stood for. Each one true. But not holding together.
We started by reading what was already there. Hands-on learning. Applied science. People who build, not just study. As behavior.
From that, the system emerged: a structure that could hold everything underneath it, from social posts and email campaigns to event collateral and a drone show.
From that, the system emerged, a structure that could hold everything underneath it.
RPI Forward. A platform, that doubled as a tagline. It unified the institution across schools: Architecture. Science. HASS. Athletics. Engineering, . And gave the campaign coherence.
The work had to operate in multiple worlds at once. Donors. Students. Faculty. Global partners.
So it wasn’t designed to speak louder. It was designed to carry. Across audiences, and across time.
The result was campus wide alignment. A way for the institution to see itself clearly, and for others to understand why it matters.
